Hi, my name is Edina and I often buy new polish by impulse. Without looking for a swatch online, without even reading a word about it, without even testing it. Last time I went to Douglas for “only” a couple of IsaDora polishes, I did something very similar. Although I painted a swatch on a piece of paper with this Anny polish and although I did realize that something’s funny with it, I knew I just can’t leave it there.
What was the funny part? That this gorgeous red-gold-burgundy turned indigo blue on the paper. I couldn’t believe my eyes, so I had to examine it a little further. And for this I had to buy it, so now you see the logic here too, don’t you? ;)
Aaaaaaaaaaaand I still don’t understand this polish. Let’s look at the bottle one more time, shall we?
Now this is the amount of beauty we rarely get to see in a tiny bottle. And with that I could finish this post, saying that it’s totally worth buying it, because it’s so unbeliveably gorgeous in the bottle, that I could place it as a center piece on the tables at my wedding. However.
However you’ve already seen it applied too. And it’s different. Very different. Where did the magic go?! It became so much darker, the gold is completely gone and the burgundy doens’t show either. What we do have is some kind of a dark indigo blue, with some burgundy-like depth. And it’s not as interesting as you would imagine.
Don’t get me wrong, I like this color. If it had looked like the same in the bottle too, I wouldn’t have any complaint. But I almost go crazy that I can’t make the color in the bottle appear on my nails. The fact that it chips like hell doesn’t help either, although – and I’m serious when saying this – I wouldn’t even care about the chipping if I had get that color.
It’s beautiful up close (not that beautiful obviously), there are some shimmers too and it has a very interesting depth, but that’s just not enough.
I’m quite disappointed that I didn’t get what I wanted, so now the only thing I can do is to carry the bottle with me all the time and look at it several times a day, to soak in its beauty, to make it caresse my soul. And I try to forget that a nail polish’s only function is not just looking good in the bottle. :/
