Five Ws and one H

This post is also available in: Magyar

You know we, bloggers have absolutely no clue about who, when, why and how reads our blog. Okay, I’m overgeneralizing, so let me rephrase that: I have absolutely no idea about most of my readers. I read the comments and I see my statistics, but that’s all. I’m sitting here in my ivory tower, surrounded by nail polish, cat hair and walls that I can’t see through. And all I know is that you are there and you read my blog, but that is all.

I don’t know who you are (except those who leave comments <3), I don’t know what you like to read here, I don’t know why you come here and from where and when and for how long. Yes, I see my numbers, but that’s not what I care about.

I’m curious about you. Like A LOT.

So I’d like to ask you to introduce yourselves, if you feel like it. I’d like to know more about each and every one of you. Leave a comment, tell me about yourselves: do you read my blog at school or at work? In coffee or lunch break? Making wishlists or just for fun? In the morning or afternoon or evening? At home while cuddling with a cat/dog/goldfish? Wearing your favourite pjs? I’m curious about everything. You can’t even imagine how much.

Leave me a comment as long as the Twilight saga or just a few sentences, if it’s honest, I’ll be happy either way. There’s no such thing as an off-topic now: you can write whatever you feel like. :)

Or be creative: send an email, tweet me, tag me on Instagram (or rather use the hashtag #hellolakkomlakkom so that I won’t miss anything), just show me who you are. :) Or ask me questions, if there’s anything you don’t know about me, but what you were always curious about.

And to thank you for your effort, I’ll give away two gift cards (offered by my beloved webshops <3). One from Nailland Hungary, one from Hypnotic Polish, €30 each.

The giveaway is international, including every country where Nailland or Hypnotic ships. I will choose the winners, one random and one for creativity. You won’t be able to oversee the process, since I’ll be the only one who knows every entry on every platform (comment, email, tweet, instagram…etc.). I’ll delete every entry that reeks “giveaway-tourism” – we are building a community here, not giving away free stuff for those who have the strange hobby of giveaway piratism. I’m strict, but I want you, my dear readers to win, not just someone who passes through.

You don’t have to follow me to win, but please be a doll and follow Nailland and Hypnotic on Facebook and on Instagram. Use this Rafflecopter app to enter.
a Rafflecopter giveaway
The giveaway ends on May 19 12am CET, I’ll announce the winners during the following few days.

I’m so so so curious about…..well, everything. :):) And like always: thanks for being here, we have a wonderful year ahead of us, I can’t wait to tell more about some things I’ve been working on lately. :)

So hi there, my name is Edina. I love to paint my nails and I have a cat. How about you? ;)

Lovely idea !!! Though you know me well by now haha ^^ So hello girl, my name is Guillaume, I’m almost 36 (>_<) from France, married to a girl named Stéphanie that obviously paints her nails :D We have a kid, and a kat :) I'm working as a web developer for a small company and you are one of the cutest and sweetest girl I ever met <3
I'd like to say I'm at home, in my sofa, cuddling my cat, but that's untrue … I'm at work. I wish I was :D

    Much love my friend ^^ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 13:51

I’m glad that you love the idea too! :) Well, yes, I already know a few things about you, but I’m still curious. :)
Thanks so much for the compliments, you’re always too sweet. :) :*ReplyCancel

  • Naildith - 2016-05-12 - 11:19

haha as long as the Twilight saga :D So I start with my name Judith. I’m from Switzerland and love cats and nails too ;) I love everything magic and superheroes related. Other hobbies are Netflix, movies, music and going for walks. Currently I’m wearing Colors by Llarowe Giant Giraffes In My Yard on my nails which I bought because of your swatch. I don’t read blogs that often but I check yours almost daily because you deliver great content and pictures *-* I also follow both of your Instagram accounts and I’m always happy to see pictures of #nachosfirstofhisname <3 I've got a cat too: she's 7 years old and black/white. My favorite drink is Licorice tea and I love food (especially fruits and vegis) <3 Wish you a wonderful day and week :) <3ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 13:56

      Hi Judith,
You have such a lovely name. :) It seems that we almost have the same interests: cats, nails, magic, superheros, movies…I’m a sucker for all of these. :):)
Oh, Giraffes is a goooorgeous polish, I really like it too. :)
And you’re so sweet, I’m so happy that you like when I post about Nachos, he’s my sweatheart. ^^ I bet you’re cat is lovely too! *_*
Oh, here we are, we found the one and only difference between us: I can’t stand anything licorice. :D:D:D
Thank you so much for your comment and have a nice week you too! :)ReplyCancel

  • ChloéM - 2016-05-12 - 11:47

Well, I’m not one to comment a lot blog posts, but here I am :) My name is Chloé, I’m from France. I read you a lot, and I looove to look at your amazing swatches ! I read you at work o at home, depends on the occasion. I love nail polishes, and my little cat (Suki’s her name and she’s sooo bitchy but so cute !), my boyfriend and I love reading a lot too. Well I might even read more than I polish my nails, but as they are thin and fragile I think it’s better. I’m looking for a way to make them stronger so I could polish them more…
I don’t remember the first time I ended up here. I just did. Once, then once again, and some day I started following you regularly… I’ve got a group of blogs that I follow and read, that make me laugh, dream of polishes, that make me waaaant to buy this one and this one… and that one too. And you’re just one of those bloggers. And I really thank you for that, even if I’m not one of those that you know by their comments, because I always feel welcome and part of “the team” when I come here. And it’s wondeful. So thank you, and please, continue !!! :)ReplyCancel

      Hi Chloé,
Thanks so much for commenting and for your sweet words! ^^
I bet Suki is a very cute cat, she sure sounds like one. :D
Reading is a very dear hobby of mine too, sometimes it’s a big struggle to decide whether I want to read or paint my nails, so I understand you. :)
Et merci beaucoup encore une fois! :)ReplyCancel

  • Christine - 2016-05-12 - 12:00

Love this idea, Edina! <3 So I'm Christine and you might know me already from Instagram (@chrissys_lackwahnsinn) :D I'm 24 years old and living in Germany. My parents are from Romania, so I also speak romanian besides french, english and german :) I always tried to learn hungarian too from my dad as he was raised with many hungarian-speaking people around him, but I wouldn't even have somebody to talk with except him :D Currently I'm wearing.. well, I'm wearing nothing on my nails. One hour ago I had Smile In Your Sleep by Bow Polish on my nails, but I was angry.. and I used a peel off base yesterday haha.
My hobbies are doing my nails (who didn't see that coming? :D), music, watching movies/series, playing tennis if the weather is good and playing with my lovely 3 years old Cockerspaniel Cookie. The best is doing most of these things with my boyfriend :D
I'm following you already since I started with Instagram and my blog, and I still know the way I freaked out of happiness as you followed back and shared my swatch of Magic. Btw, you just liked my recent IG pic while I wrote this ;)
You're such a nice person! Even if we don't talk that much with each other, but I really like you <3

Have a very nice day my dear! :)ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:06

      Hi Christine :):):):)
I’m so glad that you are here! :)
Of course I know you, I check your pictures religiously on IG, I really like your swatches. <3 (As you can clearly see. :D:D)
Wow, you speak a lot of languages, I'm so jealous! *_* Hungarian though is said to be a very difficult language, so I understand, it's not easy to learn it if you have only your Dad to talk to. But already the effort and the idea is so nice of you! :)
Oh, I ordered that Bow polish too, I can't wait to get it! *_*
You have a cockerspaniel? *_* I had one too when I was little, these dogs are just breathtakingly beautiful with those big eyes! <3 And Cookie is such a fun name. :D
I really like you too, it's funny, since we never met, but I think the nail polish community is like this. <3ReplyCancel

  • Dorit - 2016-05-12 - 13:57

Hi Edina! I first encountered your IG channel (following you as anneri_wilwarin), and then I switched to reading your blogposts as well. This post is such a nice idea, even if there weren’t a giveaway!
Well, I love painting my nails (surprise surprise), and as I work from home, no ones going to hinder me from peeking quickly at IG and the net when I was supposed to be working! I recently moved to Shanghai (I’m originally from Germany)(and have an IG channel called ‘Swatches of Shanghai’ devoted to my adventures over here). Right now I’m struggling with learning Mandarin and finding indie polish suppliers who ship to me! (At the moment I ship everything to my lovely parents. It’ll be like christmas when I visit them in summer and get to open all the packages!)
I’m older than I usually think I am, died my hair purple for the first time not that long ago and besides nailpolish and makeup I love to travel and read the whole day long. Does that help? ;)
I can sooooooo relate, btw – I always wish I’d know who reads my posts, too!ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:18

      Hi Dorit!
I just checked your IG and your nail arts are so pretty! And your nails have such a nice shape. :)
It must be so a m a z i n g to live in Shanghai, I can’t even imagine! *_* Wow, Mandarin is tough, I’m a theoretical linguist by degree, we were studying Mandarin, I don’t envy you here. :D But I’m sure you’ll master it. :)
Your hair looks gorgeous btw, I really like that purple shade. ;)ReplyCancel

  • Lara Leaf - 2016-05-12 - 15:21

I am in the U.S. and am 65 years old. About 5 years ago, I fell head over heels in love with nail polish! I started Googling images of some polishes and found you through that. I am in awe of you nail bloggers – I cannot imagine the time, expense and all that nail blogging entails. I love your site – I like the overall ‘look’ of it and am so grateful for you sharing your nail polish adventures with us! My life lately revolves around polish! I read my nail blogs every day in the comfort of my Loafing Chair, lol. I have on my nails today KBShimmer A Touch Of Glass, which I am loving.
Besides collecting polish, I read (novels, mainly mystery) every chance I get, love to listen to certain music genres, love art (and kick myself for not getting to my city’s wonderful museums more often), gardens, prefer cool mountainous summer vacations instead of warm sandy beaches. My husband and I used to cohabit with a bird but he has passed. I sometimes think of adding another pet member but we may not because of other issues.
It is 8:20 a.m. here now ; I am drinking coffee and wearing a house dress and relaxing looking at the pretty polishes!ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:22

      Hi Lara,
Wow, now I am suprised. o_O Not because of your age, but because of the passion that shines through your words!
I’m so happy that you find so much happiness in nail polish! :)
I’m not a beach person either, so I totally understand you, who needs heat when there are mountains, right? :D
I’m sorry about your bird. :( It is very difficult with pets, I wish they lived longer to accmpany us. :)
Have a nice week and thanks so much for your comment! :)ReplyCancel

  • Zara TracesOfPolish - 2016-05-12 - 21:38

I run a small nail art blog from the capital of Sweden. I read a number of blogs but primarily comment on fellow Swedish and “smallish” blogs. For some reason I rarely take the time to comment on those that have that big and successful feel (lots of reviews etc), even if I truly enjoy the content! I feel like a big blogger already know they are good and have recognition. Hence they don’t need a cheerful “cute design” from little old me. I realise that this logic is kind of faulty and that everyone who takes the time to create content and publish it want the same kind of feedback and interaction. I think I’ve only commented on your blog before because I really wanted to see a comparison of two shades (which I’m super happy you posted <3).
I always read through Feedly, at random times. Sometimes on my phone while trying to wake up, at other times with a cup of Earl Grey tea in front of the computer on a Saturday afternoon.
I don't have a cat but have always wanted one. At the age of eleven I named my to-be cat Våfflan (Swedish for Waffles) :)ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:29

I totally understand you, I have the same “theory” in my mind that “bigger” blogs don’t need my comment, then I realise that maybe this is exactly why I get less comments and then I start commenting everywhere. :D
I just checked your blog and IG and I really like your nails and manicures! <3
And that's one cute name for a cat. :D:DReplyCancel

  • Jessie - 2016-05-12 - 22:37

Hi, my name’s Jessie and I’m a 38 year old mother of two from Alberta, Canada. This is such a great idea. I love reading the other comments and finding people that love nail polish and colour as much as I do.
My story is as follows. I’ve always liked nail polish but it was sporadic and not an obsession. Fast forward to 4 years ago and I had just given birth to my oldest daughter. I was feeling so unpretty and not at all like myself. Then I discovered nail polish blogs. It was like a switch flipped. It was tiny way to feel pretty and all the colours drew me in. My collection expanded immensely and most of it is Zoya.
I found your blog just recently, thanks to your love of indie polishes. And your swatch of Cupcake Polish Berry Good Looking, has me now loving that brand and ILNP. I can’t wait to try Glam Polish’s Jem and the Holograms collection too.ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:33

      Hi Jessie,
Canada, wow. *_* I feel like my blog gets to reach places I myself always wanted. :D
Your nail polish story is very moving. I don’t have children yet, but I do understand how you can feel more pretty when your nails are done. :)
So you’re now discovering indie brands? Wow, it’s a dangerous territory. ;) You mentioned my favourite brands, I hope you’ll find some real beauties in the webshops. :)ReplyCancel

  • Kris Barry - 2016-05-12 - 22:50

I’m Kris 40 yrs old from US. I own a greenhouse business and have dogs and chickens. Until 2 years ago I bit my nails. Reading blogs and keeping them painted helped me quit. Now I developed a bit of a polish and nail art obsession. Love your blog!ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:35

      Hi Kris,
      Thanks for commenting. :)
I’m really happy that you could quit biting your nails! That’s a very big step. :) Welcome then in the dangerous world of nail poliosh obsession. ;)ReplyCancel

  • Florie - 2016-05-13 - 04:03

Hi, I’m Florie. I’ve never commented but I’ve been reading your blog for a while. I usually do it at work, as a break between two tasks. I’m a french web developer, living in Australia. I love video games, I’m a nerd girl who paints her nails. Being a coder is just the perfect job to be a nail polish addict, because no one cares if your nails look weird and you get to see them all day long, typing on your keyboard. I have a growing collection of nail polishes I’ve been grooming for 5 years now, and I’m also addicted to stamping. I’m a nobody, I’m not trying to get popular on internet with my nails but I love reading and seeing what other people do, and wishing I was just as good. Nail art is a very important hobby in my life. It takes me away from screens, it helps me get creative and empty my mind. I often get encouraged to share more of what I do, and even though I have an Instagram account, it’s something that I want to keep doing for myself, I don’t want any pressure coming for it. I admire girls like you, really getting into this world, getting a lot from it, all good and bad things. I liked your blog post about how you were tired of swatching because that’s always something that amazes me, I wouldn’t be capable of such dedication. Keep doing what your doing, as long as you like it.ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:44

      Hi Florie,
I can relate to what you commented on so many levels! I’m sitting all day before a screen, typing my life away, so yes, painting my nails helps me unwind from it at the end of the day. And I also get to look at my nails all day. :D
And I understand that you don’t need the “crazy” part of this whole blogging business, but it really is possible to enjoy it and avoid stress at the same time. If you know that you only want to entertain yourself with painting your nails, then don’t worry share your manicures, people will appreciate it. :) (If you decide to write a blog and you have big goals – that’s another question though.)
It’s a lot of work, that’s true, but most of us are already so hooked on it, thet we couldn’t even stop – for now. :)
I did need to switch back to where I appreciate my nails, rather than doing it so that others appreciate it, but now that I figured it out, it became fun again. :)
Thanks so much for your honesty and support! <3ReplyCancel

  • Gosia C-M - 2016-05-13 - 12:38

Hi, my name is Gosia. I’m from Wrocław (Poland).I’m 32 and I’m working as a designer in office where we’re designing sewage treatment, water supply etc. About 2 years ago I accidentally ran into some nail blog and it was the moment when nail polish crazyness started :) At the moment I own ~250 nail polishes and I’m affraid that if I buy another one my husband will kill me ;-) I don’t have a nail blog but I love doing my nails. I want to remember nailarts I’ve done so I’m uploading them to nailpolis ( Because I don’t have many art skills I usually draw inspiration from other bloggers (like You) and I’m trying to recreate some of your nail arts. I usually read your blog during lunch breaks at work. Besides painting my nails I love travelling, skiing, yachting, cycling. I’m also a philatelist :) Keep blogging and inspire others! :)ReplyCancel

    • lakkomlakkom - 2016-05-17 - 14:48

      Hi Gosia :)
Yeah, husband tend to be less obsessive about nail polish, than us, wives. :D:D
It’s a good thing that you save your manicures for the future, looking back on my IG feed, sometimes I find nail arts that I don’t even remember doing. :D
I had to google “philatelist”, but wow, you have a very unusal hobby, I’m sure it is very exciting! :)
Thanks so much for your comment! <3ReplyCancel

I’m Sara and I’m an 18 year old living in the US. I’ve been reading your blog for about a year or so and I check it once a day when I have a bit of free time. I love cats as well (I think there’s something about NPAs and cats…) and enjoy reading and playing videogames. I’m super science-y and am currently in college working on my degree. Nail polish is a creative hobby of mine, a way to get away from all the technical aspects of science, so I really enjoy reading blogs, taking pictures of my nails, and of course painting them!ReplyCancel
