I’ve been waiting for this year’s Essence holiday trend edition from the moment I first saw the promo pictures. I’m a sucker for duo polishes and sparkly polishes too, so you can imagine that I was completely defensless against them.
When they have finally arrived at local dm-s, I rushed into one of them and started to put all of them in my basket. Then I tried to talk myself out of them and I pretty much succeeded, so finally I only bought the red duo polish and the snowflake top coat.
The red isn’t the typical holiday red. It’s less bright and has a slight terracotta hint in it. Actually, I didn’t have anything like that so far. :)
It covered surprisingly well – I only needed one generous coat of it for full opacity. I applied the glitter on my middle finger and the snowflake top coat on my index finger.
I used a top coat too, nonetheless I was afraid that it won’t hold up until the end of the day and I won’t be able to take pictures of it. In fact – as you can see – there’s already some slight chipping on my ringfinger. :/
The glittery part of the polish is full of big reg glitters and tiny red and silver ones.
And the snowflake top coat……. Well….
I was very disappointed to notice that there’s nothing snowflake shaped in it. :( It contains some holo particles and matt white glitters. You have to shake it well before applying, because the glitters tend to sink to the bottom of the bottle:
After shaking it look very beautiful. Applying it isn’t easy, because very few glitters stick on the brush. So what I did was to turn the bottle upside down for a couple of minutes, so that the glitters become more easily accessible. So this is what I got with this method and after two coats:
Wow, right? :) Well, no, not really. :( Maybe it is because of the red base, but I didn’t like it at all.
So, yeah, finally I’m happy that I didn’t get all of the duos. And from now on I’ll try to not to buy everything just because it’s christmas-y…………..or Essence. :(
